THE BODY
Within this project I explored the nude through multiple perspectives, focusing on a scientific and abstract approach to the human body. Using a 5×4 large-format camera, I photographed the body at extremely close range to capture high levels of detail, aiming to push the images beyond recognisability.
I then scanned the negatives using a Hasselblad scanner with a 35mm attachment to achieve an even higher resolution, allowing for further cropping and abstraction. Through this process, alongside experimental cropping and rotation, I transformed the body into ambiguous, almost unidentifiable forms.
Influenced by photographers such as Man Ray and Bill Brandt, I explored how light, scale, and composition can shift the body from something familiar into something abstract and open to interpretation.
